Southern Wasco County Library now has AT&T hotspots and Samsung Chromebooks available for checkout. You can check out hotspots and laptops free with your Wasco County District library card. A hotspot is a portable device that connects to a cell phone network and provides free wifi internet access to computers, phones, or tablets. Library hotspots come with unlimited data. Chromebooks are laptops that run Google’s web based Chrome Operating System and require a (free) Google account to access.
Whether you’re applying for a job, working on homework, or just wanting to stream the latest movie release, the library is here to help you get connected.
Who can checkout a hotspot or laptop?
All Wasco County Library District cardholders in good standing can checkout a hotspot or laptop. We do limit devices to 1 per household. The hotspots can support multiple devices at a time.
How long can I keep them and can I renew them?
Hotspots checkout for 3 weeks at a time. Due to their popularity, we cannot renew a hotspot. They must be returned by the due date or service will be suspended and a reconnection fee of $25 will be applied to your account. Multiple shutoffs will result in suspension of hotspot use.
Laptops checkout for 1 week at a time. These can be renewed if there are no holds (other patron requests) for them. Call your local library to check your renewal status.
