How to Get a Card
It’s easy to get a library card and it’s free for most residents of Wasco County.
Just stop by any of our libraries with a picture ID and proof of your current address.
Examples of proof of address include:
- Driver’s License or other ID
- Bill in your name
- Lease Agreement in your name
- A piece of mail sent to you
Children under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign up for a library card. The parent or guardian must show ID and proof of current address.
You can also sign up online. We’ll call you when your card is ready to be picked up. Please bring your picture id and proof of address when you pick it up.
No problem! We have a reciprocal agreement with over 70 libraries in Oregon. If your library is in the Sage system, you already have access to many of our materials. Ask your local library for more information.
We offer non-resident cards for a yearly fee of $25. This means you have access to not only Wasco County materials, but the entire Sage system.

With your new library card you have access to 1000s of books, movies, and our Library of Things! Your library card also gives you access to our digital collection of ebooks and audiobooks through Library2Go (also known as Libby), as well as movies you can stream through Kanopy. Check out all of our resources including eLearning services like Mango Languages.
For the first two months with your new card, you are limited to 6 items checked out at a time. After the two month period, you can have up to 50 items checked out at a time!
We allow patrons to have up to 12 items on hold at any given time.
Most items check out for 3 weeks at a time. This includes books, hotspots, and many of our Library of Things items. DVDs, laptops, and kits have a 1 week checkout period. Be sure to check your reminder slip for all due dates.
We are pleased to announce that most items that do not have a hold request on them will renew automatically 2 times. That means you could have a book out for 9 weeks! If you set up email notifications, you will receive an email letting you know if an item will be automatically renewed. Hotspots do not automatically renew due to high demand.
