Devi: Goddess Within Me is an explorative Indian dance production that endeavors to illuminate the paradox of femininity by skillfully navigating the blurred boundaries between the revered figure of the Goddess and the lived experiences of women in today's society. This contemporary dance production is grounded on Indian classical traditional dance form Bharatha Natyam, and folk dances which lend itself to innovation seamlessly. The project aims to delve into the intriguing contradiction within our culture, where the worship of the divine feminine contrasts with the societal treatment of women. Featuring company repertoire dancers, with lead dancer/choreographer Jayanthi Raman, the production features original music score and poetry drawn from ancient and contemporary poets, and projected images of mythology and real life photos. Through this production, the choreographer confronts the hypocrisy that exists within the individual - a microcosm of society - and permeates the broader spectrum of global cultures to shape our thoughts and behaviors. The costuming, music (pre-recorded) and dances are energetic, vibrant and enjoyable for all age groups.

Featuring Jayanthi Raman and Company repertoire dancers from India and the US.
